What Partnerships and Collaborations have Entocycle established?
Founded in 2017 to accelerate the global shift to sustainable protein through insect farming, innovation and technology, Entocycle transforms food waste into low-carbon insect protein and organic fertiliser (FRASS), supporting a circular economy and sustainable food system.
Throughout our 10 years of designing, building and deploying scalable facilities that convert food waste into local, low-carbon protein and organic fertiliser, we’ve established multiple prominent partnerships to help us propel our work further and faster than ever before.
Strategic Partnership with Buhler
In 2023, we announced a strategic partnership with Buhler, a €3bn European food technology business. This partnership allows us to integrate our insect breeding technology into Buhler’s insect projects, and where relevant, enables us to bring Buhler into our particularly large scale projects where their expertise and credibility is valuable.
“The industrial use of BSF is rapidly gaining traction among businesses seeking alternative feed protein sources and more sustainable practices. To accelerate scaling this industry we must contribute to lowering the hurdles for companies to enter this business. That is why we are very pleased to cooperate with the Entocycle team in future projects, as they share the same philosophy as Bühler in ensuring the quality and reliability of their solutions.”
The partnership enables us to offer scalable end-to-end solutions that significantly reduces the time to market, for companies building an insect facility.
In addition to jointly developing projects, Buhler and Entocycle have also undertaken joint marketing and research projects that have aided us both in our business and marketing development and strategies.
Technology Partnership with Siemens
In 2025, we partnered with Siemens to digitalise our operations.
A global technology leader driving innovation in industry, infrastructure and mobility through digital transformation, Siemens enabled us to create the UK’s first digitalised insect farm showroom under four Victorian railway arches at London Bridge, before physical construction began.
A full digital transformation was then undertaken, and our Centre for Insect Technology leverages Siemens AI and automation to help scale operations while driving efficiencies. The advanced site features robotic arms, climate-controlled chambers and machine vision technology that counts and monitors thousands of microscopic larvae a second with 96-100% accuracy.
In addition to partnering with us on technology development, Siemens have also supported us on reaching new potential customers across feedstock, offtake and food organisations, of which the businesses were finalists at the Food and Drink Federation Awards for a joint award on digital transformation in the food supply chain.
“Entocycle has created the blueprint for high-tech insect farming. It’s successfully applied modern manufacturing technology to its highly niche subject of rearing black soldier flies. The outcomes are clear to see in increased insect survival rates and slashing the time staff would spend counting insects. It’s a fantastic concept ready to be delivered to customers around the world, regardless of site size and location. We’re proud to support it as a great example of technology with a purpose in addressing crucial sustainability challenges.”
