Waste-to-Value, Powered By Insects

Entocycle exists to harness the natural efficiency of insects, to transform organic by-products into high performance feed.

To do this, we develop and build industrial-scale insect farms that turn problematic food waste into high-value, sustainable proteins for animal feed and insect products. By combining our patented insect rearing technology with a proven project development methodology, we deliver investable end-to-end solutions for the global feed industry.

Insects have always played a vital role in the natural food chain, but replicating this process in a commercialised environment requires unparalleled engineering. Built upon a decade of research and development, our world-class team of engineers, entomologists and market experts work in close collaboration to build biologically and commercially efficient industrial-scale Black Soldier Fly (BSF) rearing systems.

It’s this industrial-scale predictability that allows us to deliver sustainable, high-quality nutrition without the environmental liabilities of today’s food systems.

The Protein Demand Challenge

The compound effect of population growth and developing nations eating more meat is creating a demand challenge. To meet the increasing demand, the poultry and aquaculture industries are set to double in size over the next 25 years.

Yet, traditional proteins cannot meet this demand. Overfishing is exhausting our oceans whilst land-grown proteins drive irreversible deforestation.

Combine the above facts with the knowledge that nearly ⅓ of the food we produce is wasted, with millions of tonnes being sent to landfill or incinerated, contributing at least 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions, the damage is clear - but how do we resolve this?

Turning an Operational Cost into a Commercial Asset

For food manufacturers, breweries, crop growers and waste management companies, organic by-products have typically been seen as an operational burden.

By deploying BSF bioconversion technology, organic waste is upcycled directly back into the food chain. Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) are the ultimate bioconversion engine; voracious eaters that reduce the volume of organic waste by up to 75%. This immediately shifts food waste up the waste hierarchy, turning it from a disposal cost into a nutrient-rich input stream to create more food.

Global demand for insect protein is projected to reach $8bn by 2030, with several food manufacturers already utilising insects in their products to hit high ESG targets. Through insect farming, low-value waste is transformed into high-value commercial assets.

Nature’s Warrior on Waste

BSF are uniquely suited to solve the global organic waste problem. BSFL reach their full size in up to 14 days and achieve a 5000x increase in body weight, making them unrivalled in the protein production space.

They are a non-pest and non-disease species, allowing the larvae to consume (almost) any food waste. The larvae elevate organic waste streams from disposal and recovery into the recycling tiers of the food waste hierarchy by upcycling the nutrients directly back into the food chain; all whilst using significantly less land and resources than conventional livestock production.

An Automated, End-to-End Bioconversion Value Chain

Entocycle’s end-to-end technology control and standardises every step of the bioconversion value chain:

Substrate Engineering

food waste for insect bioconversion

Organic waste, variable by nature, is standardised into feedstock substrate, enabling predictable growth cycles regardless of waste source.

Precision Yield Control

With infant larvae supply from Entocycle’s hubs, our patented counting and dosing systems eliminate biological variability to standardise production yields.

Automated Bioconversion

Larvae bio-convert the food waste into high value proteins at an unrivalled pace, growing 5000x their body weight in a matter of days.

Industrial Refinement

Harvested larvae are processed into high-value protein meal, oils and fertilisers, transforming the biological processes into market-ready products for the global feed industry.

Automated, Predictable and Scalable Technology

To turn biological magic into a reliable business model, the process must be standardised.

Entocycle’s patented insect breeding and rearing technology was designed from the ground up, with our entomologists and engineers collaborating hand-in-hand to ensure that every component of our system works in collaboration with the insect.

The Circular Economy in Action

Entocycle’s turnkey solution embodies a true circular economy. In tandem with our team of entomologists and engineers collaborating from day one, we ensure that every piece of hardware mirrors the natural lifecycle of the Black Soldier Fly and no waste stream is left unmonetized.

Valuable and Sustainable Insect Products

Whole Insects

Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL) are used whole in pet food, or processed into high-protein ingredients for use in aquafeed, pet food and poultry feed.

Insect Oil

A natural by-product of insect farming, BSF oil is high in lauric acid. Used as a sustainable and antimicrobial alternative to palm oils, insect oils are now being used in cosmetics and skincare products, biodiesel and bio-lubricants.

Organic Fertiliser

Biology-Led Nutrition

Insect proteins are a concentrated protein source that’s rendered into meal for aquaculture. Studies show that insect proteins improve immune-related enzyme activities, enhanced survival rate, increased resilience against pathogens, healthier tissues and greater growth in shrimps and prawn.

Whole larvae and protein meal are fed to poultry to act as both enrichment and feed, improving animal welfare and behaviour, whilst providing a sustainable high protein alternative to traditional protein.

BSFL are used in both wet and dry pet food, consisting of high levels of amino acids and oils that provide pets with high levels of sustainable protein and nutrients.

Why This Matters

Transitioning to sustainable waste-to-value solutions requires more than ecological alignment, it demands a solid business model.

Entocycle’s modular, patented systems provide the real-time control and standardisation needed to turn natural biological processes into predictable and industrial-scale results.

Our insect technology is globally deployable, optimised for performance and engineered for scale, backed up by a decade of research and development.
